Ismail Abu Hatab - Hoodie

Ismail Abu Hatab was a Palestinian filmmaker, photojournalist, and multimedia storyteller whose vision and dedication sought to illuminate Gaza’s truths. Born and raised in Gaza City, he devoted his life to capturing the pain and perseverance of his people. He founded creative platforms and organized photographic exhibitions intended to bring Gaza’s stories to the world.

He worked with major international outlets and immersed himself in multiple disciplines, including photography, film, and multimedia art, to transcend limits and bear witness. He curated projects, taught media skills, and believed art and journalism were powerful tools for resistance and remembrance.

In 2023, Ismail was gravely wounded when a strike hit his office in the Al Ghafari Tower in Gaza City. Despite injury, he continued to work, heal, and create.

On June 30, 2025, Ismail achieved martyrdom in an airstrike on Al Baqa Café, a coastal gathering place in Gaza City beloved by journalists, artists, and citizens. He was among dozens killed in that attack, many of them civilians, students, and creative voices.

This hoodie is created to honor Ismail as a martyr of truth and art. His camera, his lens, and his vision built bridges between Gaza and the world. Though his body fell, his voice endures in every image, every memory, and every soul moved by his work. May his legacy remain immortal.
