Fatima Hassouna - Hoodie

Fatima Hassouna was a Palestinian photojournalist and artist from Gaza City whose camera became a lens on suffering, resistance, and human life under siege. She studied multimedia at the University College of Applied Sciences in Gaza and began documenting the war after October 2023.

She spent months capturing images of forced evacuations, civilian devastation, small moments of resilience, and the faces of children amid ruin. At a time when foreign reporters were barred from Gaza, she became one of the few voices able to show what was happening from the inside.

Her work gained international attention when she became the subject of the documentary Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk, directed by Sepideh Farsi, which was selected to screen at Cannes.

On April 16, 2025, Fatima attained martyrdom when an Israeli airstrike struck her home in the Al-Touffah neighborhood of Gaza City. She was killed along with ten members of her family, including her pregnant sister. Her home was struck just a day after news broke about the documentary’s selection for Cannes.

She carried a bold vision in her words: “If I die, I want a death the world will hear.” She believed her images would outlive her and bear witness beyond her life.

This hoodie is made in honor of Fatima as a martyr of truth and art. She died with her camera in hand, documenting when others were silenced. Though her body was taken, her vision lives on in every photograph, every memory, and every heart moved by what she showed us. May her legacy remain immortal.
